Creation of the position of liaison/resource nurse for organ and tissue donation

By 2007, it had become increasingly difficult to recruit people to fill resource nurse positions. In response, Transplant Québec created the position of liaison/resource nurse for organ and tissue donation. Liaison/resource nurses are responsible for organizing organ and tissue donation activities, in close collaboration with all the care teams and families. They also present training and awareness activities for health professionals. Today, there are five liaison/resource nurses in eight hospitals working in organ and tissue donation, and all are employed by Transplant Québec.
