Transplant Québec receives a mandate to manage the provincial waiting list

At the end 1992, the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux (MSSS) gave Transplant Québec a mandate to manage the organ transplantation waiting list in Quebec, marking a first in Canada. As part of its mandate, Transplant Québec established a safe and rigorous process for updating the waiting list on an ongoing basis. Thus, each physician-coordinator responsible for hospital transplantation programs registers patients on the Transplant Québec waiting list. Physician-coordinators are also responsible for determining the status of each patient based on criteria set out by various committees of medical specialists.
