Pilot project on resource nurses for organ and tissue donation

The Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux (MSSS) in 2001 allocated $1.2 million to Transplant Québec for purposes if supporting the gradual implementation of a pilot project for resource nurses in organ and tissue donation across 18 key health establishments. These nurses play an active role in the early identification of organ and tissue donors, while supporting potential donor families through the organ donation process. Today, there are 10 resource nurses spread out across 11 hospitals in the network.
